Templates, headers and footers

Reusable designs shared across every brand in your account.

A template is a saved block document you can reuse. Templates cover three jobs: whole email starting points, reusable sections, and shared headers and footers.

Templates are account-wide

Unlike contacts and campaigns, templates are available across every brand in your account. This is deliberate: if you write a banner promoting one of your brands, you want to drop it into another brand's newsletter without rebuilding it.

Creating one

Go to Templates → New template and build it exactly as you would a campaign. Or design something inside a campaign and save it as a template from there.

Sections

In the builder's left panel, below the blocks, is a Sections list of your saved templates. Click one to drop its entire contents into the email you are editing. This is how you reuse a product feature layout or a standard sign-off.

To make one, select a block in the canvas and press the save as a section button in the toolbar beside it. Name it, and it joins the list for every campaign in the account.

The section is a copy, taken at the moment you save it. Editing it later will not change the campaign it came from, and editing that campaign will not change the section — which is the opposite of how headers and footers behave, and the distinction worth remembering when you wonder why a fix did not travel.

Headers and footers

On the Templates page you can nominate one template as the default header and another as the default footer. New campaigns in that brand start with both already in place.

Edit once, applies everywhere unsent

Header and footer content is resolved when a campaign sends, not when it is written. Fix a typo in your footer template and every unsent campaign and automation picks up the correction automatically.

Templates nominated as a header or footer are hidden from the Sections list, since inserting them by hand would duplicate what is already applied.

What belongs in a footer

  • Your business name and postal address — legally required in marketing email
  • An unsubscribe block
  • Optionally, social links and a line explaining why the recipient is hearing from you
